Test the scanner is workingproperly using your free test keyring.Hold thescanner in close proximity to the coat. Begin scanning SLOWLY over the animal’simplant site using small circular motions around the shoulder blade area fordogs and cats. Continue to scan SLOWLY around theneck, chest and over the rest of the body of the animal if no microchip isfound in the recommended implant site for the species. It is recommended tospend a few minutes thoroughly checking for a microchip. If you attemptto scan too quickly you will simply miss the microchip altogether. It is importantto be aware of the different implant site per species and scan in theappropriate place dependent on the species of animal concerned. Microchipsthat have been incorrectly implanted in the scruff of the neck are likely tomigrate around the neck and onto the front of the shoulders or chest. Chipswrongly implanted over the side of either shoulder (instead of in-between) arelikely to migrate down either respective leg, so it is important that theseareas are thoroughly checked.
